About Moonstone
Our Mission
Our Mission is to provide high-quality mental health services to the community, improve access to counseling, and expand clinical opportunities for therapists to enter the private practice market.
We believe that the relationship between a client and the therapist is the most important factor in healing.
Moonstone Counseling strives to uphold ethical values and work towards social justice. Many people have suffered trauma from healing professionals, including racist or non-affirming therapy experiences. We acknowledge this painful reality.
Uphold Social Justice
As therapists, we are trained and educated in areas of cultural humility and social justice. We acknowledge our formal education is not adequate, nor is it a substitute for anti-racism work. Clinicians in this practice are committed to ongoing education, training, and self-work around identity and racism. We will not discriminate based on race, sex, age, sexual orientation, or disability.
Lead with Cultural Humility
Care Across the Lifespan
We provide service delivery across the lifespan--from birth to old age and end-of-life. Therapy can be hard. It can be scary. It can be work. It can also be a space of transformation; a commitment that can create an immense difference in both your life and the life of your loved ones. Our goal as a practice is to create a genuine relationship between the client and clinician that allows for introspection, honest feedback, and a feeling of connection.
We acknowledge that for BIPOC individuals, working with a white-presenting therapist may not fully support your needs in a therapeutic relationship. You may prefer, or find it therapeutically necessary, to work with a BIPOC therapist and we would be happy to help you seek a referral for someone that matches that need if a BIPOC clinician at Moonstone is unavailable. We are actively seeking the addition of therapists to this practice who are BIPOC and welcome any dialogue or conversation about our process in this.

Why Moonstone?
The Moonstone itself is a healing stone. It is said to possess qualities that soothe emotional instability, stress, and stabilizes emotions, providing calmness. We chose Moonstone as our namesake because the stone’s meaning is also associated with new beginnings, inner strength and growth. We hope the Moonstone also resonates with you, as a symbol of restoration, balance, and harmony.
Acknowledge Indigenous Lands
We would like to acknowledge that we are meeting on the Indigenous lands of Turtle Island, the ancestral name for what now is called North America.
Moreover, we would like to acknowledge the Alabama-Coushatta, Caddo, Carrizo/Comecrudo, Coahuiltecan, Comanche, Kickapoo, Lipan Apache, Tonkawa and Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, and all the American Indian and Indigenous Peoples and communities who have been or have become a part of these lands and territories in Texas.
The Tonkawa lived in central Texas and the Comanche and Apache moved through this area. Today, various indigenous peoples from all over the globe visit Austin and/or call it home. We are grateful to be able to live, work, commune and engage in our own healing practices on this piece of Turtle Island. Since some of our sessions are online, you may be living and engaging with us from other tribal lands. Here is a map that may help you in identifying the indigenous peoples of the land on which you live: https://native-land.ca/
